There is a lot to know. First, I would recommend visiting our web site http://www.homeschools.org/support/collegePreparation.html. Next, determine where your student’s interests lie. Search online or visit your local library, local junior college, or public high school counseling office for information on colleges that offer classes matching your student's interests. Once you have selected some potential schools, ask them your questions. They will be anxious to work with you and usually very forthcoming. Find out what they look for on a transcript for the program your student is considering. Also ask about scholarships and grants. A little preparation can increase your chances of obtaining financial help. Start now! It is never too early to begin preparing for college. |

Transcript processing time depends on a number of things. Do you need a complete transcript, or will an incomplete transcript suffice? Is all the work for the grade level turned in? If so, how long ago?
If all of the student’s work has been turned in, and scores have been posted, a completed transcript can usually be sent in two weeks or less. If you need a complete transcript, but not all the work has been graded, the grading process will determine how long it will take. The grading of coursework which has already been sent to CLASS cannot be expedited. The Transcript Expedite Service might be available if the transcript is needed for one of the following situations:
a) responsing to an immediate legal challenge
b) a high school student facing an imminent deadline for scholarship consideration
c) a student entering the military
Please contact the Customer Service Department at (847) 259-4444 or by e-mail at custserv@homeschools.org before submitting any work, to obtain details and fee information. Please remember that work already submitted will not be included in the expedite service, and that the service is not available merely to speed up normal grading of the student’s coursework.
Most often, colleges are willing to start with an incomplete transcript. Find out what the college’s deadline will be for your complete transcript. You may need to adjust your coursework submission schedule to make sure all the work is graded in time.
