View Curriculum Sixth Grade

The following subjects are required for sixth grade:
 

Grammar
Grammar comprises one half of the English requirement for sixth grade (the other part being reading).

If your student struggles with grammar, we do offer a remedial sixth grade course.

Note: You may, or we might, choose different courses from different grade levels if they are more appropriate for your student. CLASS reserves the right to modify course selection based on achievement test scores, course availability, and previous course assignments.

Course Description: This course combines grammar and writing (in alternating chapters) to teach students both the mechanics and the use of English. Grammar topics include a study of sentences with some diagramming, nouns, pronouns, verbs, adjectives, adverbs, prepositions, conjunctions, and references skills. Writing topics will teach students to write personal narratives, newspaper editorials, instructions, research reports, historical fiction, compare-contrast essays, limericks, free verse, and cover letters.
