The following subjects are required for advanced kindergarten:
Phonics comprises one half of the English requirement for advanced kindergarten (the other part being reading).
Note: You may, or we might, choose different courses from different grade levels if they are more appropriate for your student. CLASS reserves the right to modify course selection based on standardized test scores, course availability, and previous course assignments.
The first course listed will be assigned by CLASS unless you choose an alternate from those shown below. Write any alternate choices selected in the comments section of the enrollment application.

Course Description: This course begins a formal study of phonics— starting with short vowel sound and logically progressing through consonants, long vowels, and beyond. Drill, repetition, and writing activities are used to ensure comprehension.
The phonics sounds CD provides instructors and students with guidance in the correct pronunciation of each vowel and consonant sound. It also includes special tips for teaching beginning readers. |
