Description:
This course provides a thematic study of classic literature, primarily written by English and American authors. The selections of fiction and non-fiction short stories, biographies, and poems are arranged in units by themes such as Families and Friends, Explorers, Patriots, Men and Women of Faith, Artists and Musicians, Sportsmen, and Legendary Heroes. Featured authors include Dickinson, Kipling, Bunyan, Whittier, Dickens, Wilder, Longfellow, and O. Henry. Famous people and legends highlighted in the stories include William Tell, Casey Jones, Paul Revere, Clara Barton, Daniel Boone, Columbus, Thomas Edison, Johnny Appleseed, Florence Nightingale, Sherlock Holmes, and King Arthur.
